CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Since I know you are all so interested, our trip down was relatively uneventful. We almost got lost before Greg Schimmel improvised and got us back on track (props) and we had to make a quick stop so Schimm could get some tissues (he’s had a cold, jerks), but other than that nothing much happened.
It was much to my chagrin that we arrived in Charlottesville to discover the media parking lot atop a massive hill that we would need to traverse down, but more importantly, up on the way back. So when we got out of the car and found a friendly golf cart complete with cart-chauffer awaiting us, I was quite pleased. Finally, we all knew what it was like to be the Fridge during practice.
It’s about 20 minutes before kickoff, and the stadium isn’t close to being full yet. One cool feature to Scott Stadium is the hill where fans can gather as opposed to the stands. There seems to be a small sea of red collecting in the east corner of the redzone, directly above the visiting locker room. Virginia has won five straight home games that had an evening kickoff, but rank last in the nation in scoring and lost to Duke by 28 last week. It seems that one of the two trends will have to give way tonight.
But for now, I’m thinking about having some more of the “Traditional Meat Lasagna” they’re serving in the press box. Adi, man, you’re missing out.
