Scoreless tie here at WakeMed Stadium in Cary, N.C.
Good news and bad news for the Terps. First the bad- with starting defensive midfielder Matt Kassel already out with a right foot contusion, it looks like freshman forward Casey Townsend might be out the rest of this game as well. With a little more than 10 minutes remaining in the half, Townsend went to the ground, and limped off with what looks like a right ankle injury. Cirovski was concerned about that same injury after Wednesday’s quarterfinal.
Now the good news. Despite not having scored, the Terps are controlling this contest. They are applying more pressure than BC, have more possession than BC and defender Rodney Wallace has looked very dangerous running up from his left back position. But they have no goals to show for it.
BC goalkeeper Chris Brown, a first team all ACC selection, made two great saves with just over 20 minutes remaining. Midfielder Graham Zusi made a run into the box on the left and Brown saved his point blank shot. The ball deflected into the middle of the box where forward Jason Herrick seemingly had a wide open net. But Brown did his best Gigi Buffon impersonation and sprinted back into position before diving to his right to prevent the goal.
Check back for another update after the second half.
