Celebreality: Redskins Redux

December 3rd, 2008 10:00 pm by Michael Katz

Amazingly, my celebrity prayers have been answered.

The athlete parade rolls on as Washington Redskins running back and amateur actor Clinton Portis is pictured on the jumbotron.

Portis is met by an equal chorus of boos and cheers from local fans and a strong contingent of out-of-state haters.

But love him or hate him, did I pick the a good day to start blogging or what?

Clinton Portis wasnt he that guy at turtle hitting on freshman girls

  2. Dan says:

    portis is a lame-o.

but at least we’re not stuck with dealing with dicky-v’s intolerable and irritating senility like duke is.

we should totally be getting better celebs at our games. where’re our alum like larry david? i know he’s not an alum but would it kill michael wilbon to show up for a game once in a while? if we start trying to draw a better (better entailing longer lasting, patient, loyal, and on rare occasions more famous) crowd we could totally convince prospective recruits to come.
forget trying to convince them on merits of championships (lord knows that hasn’t worked at all recently); sell them on the fact that wilbon decides to show up; that kevin blackistone is front row courtside or that scot van pelt is on the Wall somewhere. the rest of the sports media world is here to see you play.
i mean its not like the terps can enjoy playing in front of the crowd we have now.

Honestly, I can’t stand Portis so I’m glad to see that he was booed. In fact, I was there booing him, gotta admit.

  4. Andrew Wilson says:

Portis deserved the boos. I’ve been a fan my entire life and this guy is an excuse for a running back. I wish terpsnation (and skinsnation!) could see my face right now, because only then would they know how serious I actually am.

  5. Noah says:

It does not really matter if Portis was booed or cheered.. obviously if you were a skins player you cheered, and if you werent then you were jealous cuz he wasnt your boy.

But that doesnt matter.. Portis didnt go to UMD, wasnt a terp, so why is he showing up on the jumboscreen?

Kevin Pittsnogle (remember him from WVU?) was there.. why not put him up on the jumboscreen?

  6. James says:

I guess being one of the best RB’s in the NFL and second in the NFL in yards makes you a pretty bad RB. Everyone who booed him needs to commit suicide, without him the Skins would be like 3-9

  7. LIAN says:

Portis is the man! I dont even like the redskins, but whenever his commercial comes on late night it always gives me a good chuckle. The best thing about Maryland is that commercial along with the Maryland Hydro one.
