The Terrapin field hockey team was honored at halftime after capturing its third national championship in four years.
The Terps received a warm welcome from the home crowd as they brought the trophy to center court. The Terp faithful were happy to celebrate a championship, especially with the recent mediocrity of the men’s basketball and football program.
Co-captain Susie Rowe brought the hardware out onto the court. The senior, who will return to her native England after graduating after this semester, refused to relinquish the trophy.
As she walked off the court she was congratulated by President C.D. Mote, but as he reached for the trophy, Rowe seemed to back away just enough to kindly signal “paws off.”
