The No. 13 Terp women take on first place Florida State tonight at 7 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Fla., and I can proudly say that I am here to witness it.
They aren’t really expecting a big crowd. In case you forgot, Florida State is kind of big on football. I guess the fans have to stay at home and prepare for signing day, which is coming up soon.
It’s a shame because the No. 15 Seminoles (18-4) are for real. They are 6-0 in conference, alone at the top of the league and have wins over No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 24 Georgia Tech and No. 3 Duke, which came just last Thursday.
They also only lost to No. 1 Connecticut by 12, which is pretty good considering the Huskies have been blowing teams out by 30 all season.
They don’t have a big time explosive scorer like some of the other Terps’ opponents this season, but they do have a student section. That’s right, they fill about one row across from the FSU bench. There’s about, let me count, eight of them and I’m pretty sure the only Terp they recognize during warm-ups is Kristi Toliver.
Sort of exciting, I guess. But in all seriousness this is a big game for the Terps, especially after giving up a 13-point lead at Virginia on Friday night. Look for the gamer in the paper tomorrow.
