RALEIGH, N.C.– Some observations compiled during the first half of the Terrapin men’s basketball game at North Carolina State…
-The RBC Center in Raleigh is a very nice arena with ample seating and parking and plenty of luxury boxes. It’s a lot nicer than the Hartford Civic Center/XL Center where the Whalers used to play.
-Sean Mosley picked up a steal on the Wolfpack’s first possession. He appears to be showing no ill effects from the minor ankle injury suffered against Duke.
-It’s a very interesting perspective to sit on the floor right behind the hoop. You can hear a lot more of what the players are saying. After Mosley scored on a fast break layup and drew a foul, Landon Milbourne said “That’s what I’m talking about!” Adrian Bowie said “Yeah, good work boiii!”
-Dave Neal is having a little trouble rebounding and defending against the Wolfpack’s bigger frontline. He’s working hard, and is knocking down shots on the offensive end, but Tracy Smith, especially, is exploiting the strength advantage.
-Eric Hayes is heating up for the Terps, and has knocked down two long jumpers in a row. The Wolfpack seem slow to step out on the Terp shooters, who have open shots from long-range if they’re willing to pull the trigger.
-A Braxton Dupree sighting with about two minutes to play in the half. This is the sophomore’s first game action since the first North Carolina game. I wonder if he’ll be too tired to make it to our FMSC381: Poverty, Affluence and Families class tomorrow morning at 9.
-A late 11-3 run by the Wolfpack has made this game a lot closer than it seemed a few minutes ago. The Terps are leading 34-33 at halftime, but the momentum is starting to shift toward the ‘Pack.
