Belichick visits Barnes, Fokou

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was on campus Thursday to evaluate Terps seniors Kevin Barnes and Moise Fokou, according to this update from The Boston Globe’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots have an aging defense that could use another young linebacker and any help it can get in the secondary.

Last season, the Patriots took a flier on another ACC linebacker– Georgia Tech’s Gary Guyton– who went undrafted but signed with New England and recorded 34 tackles in 14 games.

There are currently no former Terrapins on the Pats’ roster, though they had two in 2008.  Lamont Jordan signed with the Broncos this offseason and Lewis Sanders remains an unrestricted free agent.
