Touchdown Jesus!
The Terrapin men’s lacrosse team is headed to South Bend, Ind. to face No. 7-seed Notre Dame in the first round NCAA Tournament. The game is set for noon on Sunday and will be shown on ESPNU. Good luck finding a place to watch.

Sitting comfortably on the bubble after a disappointing ACC Tournament, the Terps snagged an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament Sunday night.
They owe the selection to two top-ten conference wins (Duke, North Carolina) each of which came before April.
In Notre Dame, the Terps face one of the more unknown quantities in the tournament.
The undefeated Fighting Irish were the subject of much debate prior to the seeding announcements.
Winners of the Great Western Lacrosse League, the Irish find themselves with the seventh seed due to a suspect strength of schedule. That resulted in Notre Dame — ranked second in the latest Inside Lacrosse media poll — dropping down to the seventh seed.
Notre Dame does boast an early-season win over North Carolina, which beat the Terps in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
“We can only speak for ourselves,” coach Dave Cottle said. “But you learn a lot about yourselves playing against tough competition.”
The Terps have had plenty of learning opportunities, but have struggled lately in those tests. They’ve lost their last four games against ranked opponents.
Subplots abound in what should be a fun and competitive contest. Again, check out The Diamondback tomorrow for more initial reactions from Cottle and attackman Grant Catalino.
I’ll continue to look at the matchup in this space and in the paper throughout the week. Stay tuned.
