Blogging the Terps

Done with my SPAN362 final and I’m just setting up in front of the tube for the Terrapin men’s lacrosse team quarterfinal matchup with Syracuse.

First Quarter highlights with the score 3-0.
Not a great day to be a goalie

Syracuse starter Joe Galloway is not starting, though I’m not sure why.

And late in the quarter, Brian Phipps injured his knee. After a missed shot Phipps jumped in the air and pumped his fist. When he came down his knee buckled under him and he fell to the ground.

Jason Carter was inserted for Phipps and was promptly scored upon before the quarter.

The lone bright spot is Al Cavalieri in net for ‘cuse. He’s already tied his career high with four saves.

Play with purpose

The plan for the Terps was to slow things down on offense and take efficient shots. This was something they did well in a first-round upset against Notre Dame, in which they put 21-of-33 shots on goal.

But with the Orange notching 3 goals in the first quarter, the Terps will need to go to the goal. They haven’t yet as evidenced by an early stallwarning.

Second quarter is underway so I’ll be back with more later.
