Kolarek on fire

When Terrapin baseball associate head coach Jim Farr told me that rising junior Adam Kolarek, the Terps’ primary lefthander out of the bullpen in 2008, was pitching lights out in the Coastal Plains League I didn’t realize he literally meant LIGHTS OUT.

Check out Kolarek’s line through 12 games:

4 APP, 10.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0.00 ERA, 5 BB, 22 SO, ,094 BAA, 0.79 WHIP

Also consider that Kolarek has allowed just three hits in those four appearances and that none of them have been for extra bases.

During the season after a particularly rough outing from the lefthander Farr lamented the fact that Kolarek had yet to develop an effective off-speed pitch or an “out” pitch. Unfortunately I was absentminded and forgot to ask if he had developed one, but I promise I will ask.

But it sure looks like he is doing something right.
