Details of the arrests – there were four others who were arrested in connection with the incident – have not been disclosed because the warrant was sealed, according to The Register Citizen News.

The alleged incident occured on Aug. 8.

Williams, a 6-foot-10 frontcourt player and the No. 85-ranked recruit in the nation by Rivals.com, has a chance to contribute right away to the Terps, who lost forward Dave Neal to graduation after last season.

UPDATE: Coach Gary Williams made a prepared statement through the Athletics Department this afternoon regarding the Williams arrest:

“We are aware of the situation and are monitoring any changes. We will let the judicial system run its course before making any decisions. Any discipline coming from the campus will be in accordance with our Student-Athlete Code of Conduct.”
