Forward Nicole Muracco scored a goal on an assist from fellow forward Katie O’Donnell to put the undefeated No. 1 Terps up 1-0 on four-seed Wake Forest in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament today in Charlottesville, Va. Both were named to the All-ACC team earlier this year, and O’Donnell, the team points leader, was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year.
The Terps earned the top seed in the tournament after going 18-0 in the season, including a 5-0 record in the ACC. But to extend their dominance, they will have to hold onto the lead against the Demon Deacons, who beat the Terps in the semifinal match of the 2007 ACC Tournament. But the Terps beat Wake Forest 4-1 when the two teams met earlier this year.
