The undefeated Terps took a 2-0 lead on a penalty corner shot by back Emma Thomas that sailed over diving Wake Forest goalie Kaitlyn Ruhf.
The goal added to the lead started by forward Nicole Muracco nine minutes earlier off a steal from forward Katie O’Donnell.
The teams traded possession to start the half, though the ball remained largely in Wake Forest territory. Once the Terps capitalized to score the first goal, they gained momentum, though the Demon Deacons had a penalty corner with 30 seconds left on the clock for a chance to score and swing the energy in their favor heading into halftime. But the Terps easily knocked away the weak shot and maintained their two-goal advantage and control of the game.
