The Terps held on to beat the Demon Deacons despite a late charge, earning a spot in the championship game on Sunday.
The Terps controlled most of the first half and took a 2-0 lead into halftime. But after scoring their first second half goal 17 minutes into the half, Wake Forest responded immediately, not letting the Terps extend their lead any more.
With 6:30 remaining on the clock, the Demon Deacons had three penalty corners and scored on the last, narrowing the Terps’ lead to one goal. But the Terps called a timeout to refocus and managed to keep the narrow advantage until the final buzzer.
The top-seeded Terps will take on either North Carolina or hometeam Virginia in Sunday’s final match.
