The undefeated Terps trail by two goals for the first time all season against the No. 3 Cavaliers in the final game of the ACC Tournament in Charlottesville, Va.

Both goals came off penalty corner deflections, the first by Charlotte van den Broek with 20:40 remaining in the half, and the second by Tara Puffenberger 10 minutes later. Goalie Alicia Grater saved the initial penalty corner shots both times, but then the Cavaliers were able to pick up the ball and put in quick shots over her on the ground.

The Terps tried to get their attack going, and had three penalty corner chances of their own toward the end of the half, but they could not finish, as the corner units struggled on both sides of the ball.

Their first-half troubles come after a rocky second half performance against Wake Forest in Friday’s semifinal game, when the Terps allowed Wake Forest to narrow a 3-0 lead to 3-2 before managing to outlast them in the final minutes.
