WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Terrapin field hockey team had not known defeat in over a year. But that changed today.
In the National Championship match against No. 3 North Carolina, the top-seed Terps fell 3-2. They did not fall behind until the final 15 seconds of the game, when Tar Heel forward Danielle Forword knocked in a penalty corner goal.
Though the Terps had controlled possession in the first half and went up 1-0 and then 2-1, each time they let the Tar Heels get back in the game. And then, when North Carolina went up, though they tried a final charge downfield, it was too late.
Check back later for more.
