UPDATE: Sean Mosley is a game time decision with a slight right left ankle sprain, according to a team official. Cliff Tucker is starting in his place. Mosley did warm up. He’s the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points per game.

There’s nothing like a post-Christmas matinée against Florida Atlantic on a football Sunday. That’s why I’m here with reporter Jakob Engelke handling this important assignment while regular beat reporter Eric Detweiler is winter-breaking.

It’s all good. We’ve got it under control.

Take this nugget: Terp (former walk-on) walk-on guard David Pearman did participate in warm-ups. He missed Tuesday’s 98-55 win against Winston-Salem State with a sprained knee.

In other news, Florida Atlantic (5-6) is coached by Mike Jarvis. That’s pretty interesting, at least to me. Here’s why:

Besides coaching George Washington from 1990-1998, Jarvis led the 1998-1999 St. John’s team that upended the No. 2 seed Terps in the Sweet 16.

That game wasn’t pretty. Steve Francis, in his only season in College Park, had Terp fans believing the program’s first Final Four was in reach.

Instead, the Red Storm scored 20 straight points over the final 7:11 of the first half on their way to a comfortable 76-62 win. Ron Artest had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The immortal Bootsy Thornton had 17 points.

Luckily for Terp fans, 1998-99 wasn’t coach Gary Williams’ last “best chance.” After the early departure of Francis and the departures of Obinna Ekezie, Laron Profit and Terrell Stokes, guys named Lonny Baxter, Steve Blake and Juan Dixon emerged. The rest… well yeah, you get the point.

More updates soon. As always follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/DBKSports. It could give you something to do during NFL commercial breaks.
