By the looks of the score, one would think that the Terps have control of their game against No. 7 Georgetown, up three goals at the break. But that’s not the case.

In reality, the Hoyas gave the No. 2 Terps quite a scare from the opening draw. Georgetown scored the first three goals of the game and eventually raced out to a 5-2 advantage. The Hoyas controlled most of the draws, which meant most of the possessions as well. Through the first seven minutes, the Terps struggled to get any sort of offense going as every time an attacker went on the offensive they turned it over.

After goalkeeper Brittany Dipper and the Terps’ defense settled down, they game quickly turned around. The Terps scored five unanswered goals in a ten-minute stretch as Georgetown watched its fast start evaporate. Dipper has struggled in goal, allowing six goals on 9 shots, but notched her first two saves of the game in the final minutes of the half. Look for the Terps to keep their offense running at full force and expand this lead. The Hoyas are lucky this is only a three-goal lead.

GOALS: Karri Ellen Johnson (2), Brandi Jones, Caitlyn McFadden, Katie Schwarzmann, Kate Faas, Amanda Spinnenweber
ASSISTS: Brandi Jones (2)

Other key stats: Shots (Terps 20, Hoyas 9); Fouls (Terps 5, Hoyas 14); Draw controls (Terps 11, Hoyas 5)
